High School

Distance Learning 2020

High school students should plan on approximately 3-4 hours of coursework. Please know for students and families looking for more engagement, there are extensive supplemental resources available on this site. Conversely, if the number of hours to complete assigned work is creating anxiety for your child, the first and foremost priority is a student's emotional well-being. Parents should feel free to limit the hours of engagement with school activities, and notify their teacher that the caseload has not been manageable for their child. Principals/associate principals, teachers and other staff will periodically check in to assess and receive feedback regarding what parents may be seeing at home and what may need to be adjusted.

Teachers will use a variety of platforms and online resources to communicate with students, including (but not limited to) Google Classroom and Flipgrid. Additional information regarding these online resources is available on our Ed Tech Resources page for students.

Students can expect to hear from their teachers regarding the specifics of course assignments and deliverables. As indicated on the Distance Learning home page, we recognize that students and parents, particularly at the secondary level, have many questions regarding grades, local and national assessments, graduation requirements, and the graduation ceremony itself. At this time, we must await official guidance from the State Department of Education to accurately answer those questions.

This is a very unique and unprecedented situation. While it may be a source of stress and anxiety, we are doing everything within our power to resolve this as quickly as possible.
