Qualifications to be a Substitute Teacher
All Substitute Teachers at South Windsor Public Schools receive $125 per day for full day assignments.
Long-Term Substitute Teachers (substitute teachers who remain in the same assignment for more than 30 days) must be certified in the subject area they are teaching, and receive $275.96 per day.
Qualifications. The minimum qualifications to become a substitute teacher include:
- A Bachelor's degree or evidence of experience working with school-aged children
- An interest in working with students and adults
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse population
- Familiarity and comfort with computer programs
- Ability to function autonomously within guidelines
- Ability to follow classroom lesson plans left by the teacher
- Must be reliable and have a positive attitude.
