South Windsor Public Schools believes that all children have a fundamental right to an education appropriate to their needs. The district is committed to providing educational programs and services that will support meaningful educational progress for each student.
The South Windsor Public Schools Department of Special Services provides a continuum of special education services to nearly 700 eligible students age 3 to 22 throughout the district. Special education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists, and related service personnel provide specialized instructional services that meet the individual learning needs of students determined to have a disability in an environment that is deemed least restrictive for each student.
Special education services are provided to all schools in the district by certified special education teachers who have specialized certification in the areas in which they teach, be that: preschool, elementary, middle and high school.
Related Services staff provide support not only to special education students, but to regular education students as well. Services include school counseling, psychology, social work, speech/language, occupational and physical therapy.
